Marking World Homelessness Day This year, we marked World Homelessness Day and World Mental Health Day with a community event at the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Each year, 10th October is an important date in our diary. World Homelessness Day and World Mental Health Day coincide on the same day, which are two significant areas of our work. We were invited by the Lost Gardens of Heligan for a day of connection and community, where our residents, staff and supporters joined us to tour the gardens, and connect over a campfire. The day was a significant marker of the focus of our work – people. It was poignant to bring people together, who have different experiences over a shared cause. We were welcomed by Mark, who gave us a talk on the history of the gardens, followed by a welcome by our Chief Executive, Henry Meacock who spoke about community and connection. Our residents and supporters were able to spend the afternoon together around the campfire, and they also had the opportunity to discover the new sculpture, Lowarnes. Meanwhile, our Outreach Team attended a get-together in Falmouth Maritime Museum to mark World Mental Health Day. This was an opportunity to connect with other services in the area, and talk more about how our Outreach Team supports people experiencing mental health issues and homelessness. Thank you to the Lost Gardens of Heligan for inviting us for a wonderful opportunity to connect, and to all our fantastic supporters and residents for making it a day to remember.
