When winter storms sweep in, most of us close the door, draw the curtains and stay warm. For people experiencing homelessness, there is no door to close, no walls to keep out the cold, no safe place to escape the wind and rain.

The weather is only part of the battle. Every night, unsure of where to rest, there is a storm that no one can see- a storm of fear, isolation and struggle.

No one should face the storm alone. Last year, we supported 538 people who would have otherwise been forced to spend winter alone, with 107 accessing emergency accommodation.

How our Winter Services helped Clive

Clive came to St Petrocs after a turbulent night spent sheltering in a phone box for warmth. After spending time sofa-surfing, he had no where left to turn.

Then, he found St Petrocs. Our teams could see Clive was in danger if he spent another night outside with an infected leg, and ensured he had a place in our emergency accommodation, where he could stay warm. Thanks to the support of our teams, he now has his own flat to call home, for good.
