The stunning volunteer-led exhibition captures the lives and individuality of St Petrocs’ clients, residents and staff.

The Portraits of St Petrocs exhibition was created by our long-term volunteer podiatrist, Adam Drouet, who is also an artist. Alongside the St Gluvias Portrait Group in Penryn and other artists, they created 41 stunning portraits which explores the diversity, individuality and experiences of people connected to St Petrocs.

The act of ‘having one’s portrait taken’ has traditionally been not only about creating a record of an individual, but also of assigning them a certain status which emphasises their power and social position.

These Portraits of St Petrocs aim to recognise the intrinsic importance, worth and fellowship of the people portrayed and celebrate their individuality, diversity and character. We want to really see people who can so easily become invisible.

The exhibition was on display at The Poly, Falmouth from 28th January-1st February, and was part of the exciting opening of the Royal Cornwall Museum for the duration of March 2025.

We would like to say a huge thank you to every person who was a part of this project. Thank you to our clients, residents, staff and supporters for sharing your experiences and time to make these portraits possible. Thank you to the incredible artists who gave their time, talents and efforts to create such an impactful and stunning exhibition.
